Over the dates September 10 - November 6, 2012 Obama for America sent me over 100 e-mails personally addressed to Dylan. Following Barack’s successful re-election, I received further correspondence asking for my feedback in the form of a survey. On November 26, 2012, I sent a book of the e-mails and replies to the White House. The replies were written by appropriating “anonymous love letters” from the internet.
Here are some excerpts:

Dylan — Just when the pundits and everyone else thought they knew the equation in this race — you’re changing it. I learned today that, for the first time since April, we closed the gap. We outraised Mitt Romney and the Republicans. We can’t let it be the last time. More than 3 million Americans now own a piece of this campaign — in August alone, more than 1.1 million people stepped up to make a donation. Let’s close that gap for good. Show what we’re capable of with a donation of $5 or more:https://donate.barackobama.com/August-Numbers What an incredible week. Barack

Dear Barack,

You are receiving this because you are more loved than you will ever know! I don’t know you personally, but from what I’ve heard, you have an incredible personality & values – values that I would love to emulate in my own life. Life is unfair, and I’m so sorry for what you’re experiencing, but your strength & bravery are inspiring not only to me but to many around you. I want to remind you (in case it seems far away at times) that you are & always will be an amazing man and father, that you are always surrounded by love, that even when you feel weak your strength is limitless, and that “the human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it.” –C.C. Scott

With hope, love & best wishes,

Dylan

Dylan —

I’m only going to get to sit down to dinner with grassroots supporters on this campaign one last time.

It’s one of the most meaningful things we do, and represents exactly the kind of politics we believe in: All of us, at one table, together.

So if you’re someone who is helping to build this campaign, I want to meet you. I want to thank you in person. And I’d love to hear what’s on your mind.

If you haven’t participated in one of these before, now’s the time because this is our last opportunity to sit down together before the end of the campaign — I hope you’ll take me up on it.

Your donation of $5 or whatever you’re able to chip in will automatically enter you:

Dear Barack,

You never know what you’re going to get when you show up at a party.  It was one conversation, and though it might have just helped pass the time, for me, it was more.  It reminded me that it was worth going out, because there was the chance someone like you would be there.  It reminded me that intelligence and humor aren’t always anathema to beauty.  It reminded me that the city has something for everyone, if you’re willing to look, if you’re willing to wait.
Even though the conversation doesn’t have a sister, it still meant a lot to me.

I love that I got that much.

Love,
Dylan

Dear Obama for America,

I’m an idiot for you.  I’m a blabbering moron, a silent wallflower.  I’ll deprecate myself until there is nothing left, or talk myself up until my neck falters under the weight of my head.  I’m anything but myself.  I’m not sure I’ll ever be honest around you because I care too much.

Perhaps I’ll just go sit in the corner.

Love,
Dylan

I want to thank you, Dylan. Over the past year and a half, you’ve done so much incredible work, spreading the word about all we’ve accomplished together in the last four years. And now, here we are. It’s the home stretch — time to take the next step. We’ve got less than six weeks left until Election Day, and anything you can chip in now will make a huge difference. And, if you donate before midnight, you’ll also be automatically entered for the chance to join Barack and President Clinton on the campaign trail in California next week. We’ll cover your airfare and hotel, and you’ll have a chance to get involved in this campaign in an unforgettable way. Please donate $5 or more, and help keep this campaign going strong through November 6th:https://donate.barackobama.com/Two-Presidents Thank you, again. Michelle

Dylan, I did my best to make you proud tonight. But I hope you remember one thing: This debate wasn’t about me, or Congressman Ryan. It was about you, and what we’re fighting for together. Joe,

Deja Vu

Even on the day I first met you, I felt as if I belonged to you long back. Hard to explain, But from that very moment I was fighting with a part of myself wanting
to get close to you. The harder I was trying to stop thinking of you, the more you were pulling me closer to me. I did everything possible to keep myself far from your reach and to hide this inner struggle of mine. Any gesture of yours was penetrating my heart and I had to show that it was not. I felt your pale eyes were telling something to me beyond words. My brain says it is just a delusion where you meant to convey nothing. My heart says there is definitely something in your heart which is not letting go of me. I believe in the world of intuition and you believe in the world of logic. I have no tangible proof or logic to support what I feel about you. I wholeheartedly accept the bitter truth that we met exactly in the wrong time. I also understand that we have nothing to give and take from each other, except unconditional love. I cherish every next moment I spent with you, every little gesture of yours and everything about you. You better understand that all the time I kept myself away from you, I was blaming it on my hormones. I am always sure that I don’t want to let go of you. I don’t regret meeting you. I am happy that you were present in some of the moments in my life. Not a single sunrise and sunset passes by without me thinking of you. It is almost an year now, and I don’t know if u still remember me. But my heart aches when I have to accept the plain reality that you had no such feelings for me. I convince myself that you had those feelings and it is just you don’t want to express. Above all I love you, and I will continue to do so till my last breath.

Love,
Dylan
